Abstract
Flat slab systems are widely used in modern construction due to their architectural flexibility and ease of formwork. Proper understanding of load distribution is crucial for ensuring structural safety and serviceability. This study investigates the load distribution mechanisms in flat slab systems using classical analytical methods and finite element simulation. Various load cases, including uniform and concentrated loads, were analyzed to understand their effect on load transfer to columns and slabs. Statistical analysis of the load distribution ratios was performed to validate the design assumptions commonly adopted in practice. Results highlight the significance of slab thickness, column size, and reinforcement detailing in controlling load paths. This research provides practical insights for structural engineers in optimizing flat slab design to improve efficiency and safety.
