Abstract
Secure e-commerce transactions rely heavily on cryptographic algorithms to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and authentication of data exchanged between parties. RSA (Rivest-Shamir-Adleman) and ECC (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) are two widely used public-key cryptosystems providing the backbone for secure communication. This paper presents a comparative study of RSA and ECC, focusing on their performance, security strength, computational efficiency, and suitability for securing e-commerce transactions. The study includes an analysis of key generation, encryption/decryption speed, key size, and resource utilization. Results reveal that ECC provides comparable security with smaller key sizes and faster computation, making it more efficient for resource-constrained environments common in e-commerce platforms. Statistical analysis supports these conclusions, providing insights for selecting appropriate cryptographic solutions to enhance transaction security.
