Abstract:
As organizations increasingly migrate to cloud-based data warehousing solutions, effective data governance becomes essential to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance. This paper explores the framework of data governance within Snowflake, a leading cloud data platform. We investigate key components of data governance, including data quality management, access controls, and compliance with regulatory standards such as GDPR and HIPAA. The flexibility of Snowflake’s architecture allows for the implementation of robust governance policies that adapt to evolving business needs.
We analyze how Snowflake’s features—such as automatic data classification, real-time monitoring, and transparent data lineage—support organizations in maintaining oversight of their data assets. Additionally, we discuss the role of stakeholders, including data stewards and compliance officers, in fostering a culture of accountability and transparency. Through case studies, we illustrate best practices for establishing a governance framework that enhances decision-making and promotes trust in data.
This study underscores the necessity of a comprehensive data governance strategy in the cloud era, emphasizing the balance between accessibility and security. The findings aim to guide organizations in leveraging Snowflake’s capabilities to create a resilient and compliant data governance framework, ultimately driving business value and ensuring responsible data usage.
By integrating effective governance practices, organizations can navigate the complexities of cloud-based data management while aligning with industry standards and fostering a data-driven culture.
