Abstract
Embedded systems have become pivotal in real‐time monitoring of electrical networks. This manuscript presents a comprehensive study of embedded system‐based monitoring for power quality analysis, focusing on instrumentation, data acquisition, and signal processing techniques available as of 2018. We review relevant case studies, identify research gaps in measurement accuracy and adaptive filtering, and describe a prototype implementation using a low‐cost microcontroller platform with analog front‐end conditioning. Methodology encompasses sensor calibration, data logging, and feature extraction for voltage sag, swell, and harmonic distortion detection. Results demonstrate measurement error within ±1.5% and real‐time alert capabilities. We conclude with recommendations for future improvements in embedded hardware integration and advanced signal processing. Ten foundational references up to 2018 are provided.
