Abstract
This manuscript explores leveraging OpenStack as a foundation for building scalable cloud infrastructure aligned with engineering practices circa 2015. We examine OpenStack’s modular architecture, deployment strategies, and resource orchestration capabilities to address scalability challenges in academic and enterprise environments. Through case studies of early adopters in telecommunications and scientific research, we illustrate real-world implementations. A defined methodology encompassing performance benchmarking, deployment automation, and fault-tolerance validation underpins our analysis. Results demonstrate linear scaling of compute and storage resources and highlight key configuration parameters that influence system elasticity. Concluding remarks provide guidelines for engineering teams to adopt OpenStack effectively within the technological constraints and best practices prevailing through 2015.
