Abstract
The rapid evolution of mobile communication technologies has necessitated innovative approaches to enhance the efficiency of existing 2G and 3G network operations. This paper explores a Multi-Controller Base Station (MCBS) architecture designed to optimize resource management and improve network performance in legacy systems. By distributing control functions across multiple controllers, the MCBS architecture minimizes the processing load on individual base stations, thereby enhancing overall system scalability and reliability. This approach allows for dynamic load balancing, facilitating seamless user mobility and reduced latency during handovers.
The proposed architecture leverages advanced algorithms for resource allocation and traffic management, ensuring efficient utilization of bandwidth and power resources. Additionally, the MCBS framework incorporates mechanisms for integrating with modern network technologies, paving the way for smooth transitions to 4G and beyond. Through simulations and real-world deployments, we demonstrate the MCBS architecture’s capability to sustain high-quality service in congested urban environments, addressing the challenges posed by increasing user demands.
Our findings indicate that implementing the MCBS architecture can significantly improve network efficiency, user experience, and operational cost-effectiveness in 2G and 3G systems. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse on enhancing legacy networks, providing insights for network operators and policymakers aiming to modernize their infrastructure while accommodating the growing mobile data traffic.
