Abstract
The noise generated by Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems has become a significant concern in modern building environments, impacting occupant comfort and health. This study investigates the effectiveness of acoustic panels as a noise reduction solution in HVAC systems. A comprehensive review of existing noise control methods is presented, followed by an experimental evaluation of acoustic panels installed within ductwork and around equipment. Measurements of sound pressure levels before and after installation indicate a substantial reduction in noise levels, validating the use of acoustic panels in HVAC noise mitigation. The study also discusses the material properties, panel placement, and design considerations essential for optimal performance. Limitations and future scope in the context of 2019 technologies are addressed.
