Abstract
Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices have revolutionized power flow control and system stability in electrical power networks. This paper presents a comprehensive simulation study of various FACTS devices—such as Static Var Compensators (SVC), Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitors (TCSC), and Unified Power Flow Controllers (UPFC)—to assess their effectiveness in improving power system performance. Using the Power Flow analysis technique implemented through Newton-Raphson methods, the impact of these devices on voltage profiles, power losses, and transmission capacity is evaluated. The simulation results demonstrate significant enhancement in system stability, reduced losses, and improved load ability, confirming the crucial role of FACTS devices in modern power systems.
