Abstract
Urban electrical grids face increasing stress due to rising demand, aging infrastructure, and intermittent power generation. Load shedding is a critical operational strategy to maintain grid stability and prevent widespread blackouts. This manuscript analyzes different load shedding strategies implemented in urban grids, comparing their effectiveness, reliability, and impact on consumer satisfaction. A statistical analysis based on simulation and field data evaluates the performance of priority-based, rotational, and adaptive load shedding approaches. The results demonstrate that adaptive load shedding provides enhanced grid resilience with minimal consumer disruption. The study provides a comprehensive understanding of load shedding strategies relevant to engineering practices as of 2019.
