Abstract
This manuscript explores the use of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) to improve energy efficiency in industrial motor applications. Industrial motors consume a significant portion of electrical energy in manufacturing and processing industries. Traditional motor control methods, such as direct-on-line (DOL) starting and mechanical throttling, lead to energy wastage and inefficient operation. VFDs offer an effective solution by providing adjustable speed control and reducing energy consumption during partial load conditions. This study reviews existing literature, presents a methodology for analyzing energy savings, conducts simulation research on motor performance with VFD integration, and statistically analyzes energy consumption reduction. The results demonstrate a substantial improvement in motor efficiency and operational flexibility. The study concludes that retrofitting industrial motors with VFDs significantly enhances energy savings, reduces operational costs, and aligns with sustainable manufacturing practices.
