Abstract
The increasing energy demand and environmental concerns have accelerated the adoption of renewable energy sources worldwide, especially in remote areas where grid connectivity is limited. Hybrid wind-solar energy systems have emerged as a sustainable and reliable solution by combining the complementary nature of wind and solar resources. This paper evaluates the performance, feasibility, and optimization strategies of hybrid wind-solar systems tailored for remote areas. It investigates system components, sizing methodologies, and control strategies, supported by a statistical analysis of energy yield and cost-effectiveness from various case studies. The results demonstrate the technical and economic viability of hybrid systems, highlighting their superiority over standalone systems in terms of reliability, efficiency, and environmental impact. The paper concludes with recommendations for deployment strategies and future research directions based on engineering principles and technologies available up to 2020.
